Remember a few years back when Oprah’s “Favorite Things” were ideas? I talked a lot of shiz about that, so you can imagine how excited I was this year when she did not one, but two episodes of her favorite things. (I’m not saying her producers read my blog and realized how badly they’d messed up, but I’m just sayin‘. She did two shows this year.)
Given away were iPads, cashmere sweaters, 3D televisions, cruises, cars, and more. It was “Oprah’s Favorite Things” on crack. They literally had paramedics on the set. Literally.

Which is funny to me. If someone offered me the things that Oprah gave away, sure I'd take them, but I wouldn't ever go and get any of them m'self. My mother, who is my family's arbiter of gift-giving and wish lists, asked me a few weeks ago what I wanted for Xmas and I didn't have a good answer. All I could think of were dinky things that were little more than stocking stuffers and things that would get used up and disposed of. "Really, there's nothing that you want for Xmas?" she asked."I have everything I need."It struck me as odd to even say that but it was true. I wonder what the world would be like if more people would find that they could say likewise.
